Our Mission
The Southern Regional Health System exists to serve the communities of
the Southern Crescent by improving the health status and quality of life
of its citizens.
Our History
- Southern Regional Medical Center was established in 1971 to
provide high quality medical care to the residents of Clayton County
and surrounding communities.
- Southern Regional is a not-for-profit, community based
healthcare provider and began growing into a health system in the
early 1990s.
Today
Southern Regional Health System provides comprehensive health resources,
including:
- Southern Regional Medical Center: a 376-bed, full-service
hospital in Riverdale featuring a state-of-the-art outpatient
surgery center and one of the busiest emergency departments in the
state
- Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) with 30 beds to serve
medically complex patients.
- Community Care Center to handle the growing problems associated
with treating primary care patients in the emergency department.
- RiverWoods, Southern Regional Psychiatric Center, a psychiatric
facility with a complete continuum of behavioral care services.
- Southern Regional Homecare, a home health agency serving
Atlanta’s Southern Crescent.
- The Women's Life Center, a 107,530 square foot, three-level
facility providing state-of-the-art family-oriented care. It is a
marquis health facility in the Atlanta area providing complete
obstetrical, gynecological, diagnostic and educational services in
one convenient location.
- The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbarics at Southern Regional -
A state-of-the-art outpatient center providing the most
technologically advanced therapies to treat problem wounds.
