In the early 1990s, Donald B. Logan, the late President and CEO
of Southern Regional Health System, shared his dream of
developing a state-of-the-art healthcare facility designed just
for the women of the Southern Crescent. Today, that dream is a
reality. The Womens Life Center at Southern Regional Medical
Center offers women an array of the latest diagnostic and
childbirth options in a warm, caring environment. For
everything from a routine screening mammogram, to a high-risk
birth, the dedicated professionals at the Womens Life Center
are here for you.
Advanced Care For A Growing Family

A mother / baby room in the WLC
|
From the beautifully decorated labor and delivery rooms, to the
quiet comfortable post-partum suites, the Womens Life Center is
prepared to meet the growing childbirth needs of our community in
high style. Each family expecting a child can find all their needs
met right here. To make sure the new parents are ready for the big
day, we offer a range of Prepared
Childbirth Classes to fit into any
schedule. We have large, private rooms where you will labor and
deliver under the watchful eyes of our caring staff. If the need
arises for a c-section, our two, state-of-the-art operating rooms
are just down the hall. After the birth, families are moved
upstairs to the spacious, private mother/baby suites where we will
help you get to know your new addition.
Because not every birth goes according to schedule weve created a
Special Care Nursery that is second
to none in Atlantas Southern
Crescent. Staffed by dedicated neonatologists, specially
trained nurses and support staff, the Special Care Nursery is
ready to care for each delicate infant admitted. Parents of
these little ones will appreciate the extra time we take in
explaining their babys progress and involving them in his or her
care. We make sure everyone is prepared for going home when that
happy day arrives.

Families are encouraged and welcomed to stay together with
their newborn in our Mother / Baby Unit. Our knowledgeable
staff will help you begin the parenting experience while
caring for your baby at your bedside. A whimsical, carrousel
themed holding nursery is available for your newborn if you
prefer to rest or if the baby needs closer observation.

Because we know that breastfeeding is best for both mom and baby
we have a dedicated Lactation Center to help you with this
important activity. Certified lactation consultants will advise
you and offer support during your stay. They are even available
after discharge to answer questions and, if necessary, consult
with you on an outpatient basis. For mothers who choose to
bottle feed we offer the same level of caring support and helpful
advice.
Caring Beyond The Birth Experience

The health concerns of women last a lifetime. To ensure that you
get the preventive and diagnostic care you need, weve developed a
special Womens Diagnostic Services area on the Terrace Level of the
Womens Life Center. In one convenient location weve combined
mammography (both screening and diagnostic), ultrasound, bone
densitometry and stereotactic breast biopsy. With convenient
parking and a streamlined admissions process the Womens Diagnostic
Services area will meet your healthcare needs quickly, accurately
and professionally.
Knowledge Is Power

Our Grand Piano in the Atrium continuosly
plays soothing music and offers a great
location to read something from our library
|
At the Womens Life Center we know that todays woman wants to be
more informed about her healthcare choices. With this in mind
weve created the Ernest L. Stroud Health Resource Library.
Furnished by donations to the Southern Regional Medical Center
Foundation in honor of the late Clayton County Board of Education
Chairman and Southern Regional Health System Board Member Ernest
L. Stroud, the Health Resource Library contains books, videos and
periodicals that women can reference when making decisions
regarding their health. The Womens Life Center wants to be your
healthy resource.
