Prime Healthcare Foundation Completes Acquisition of Southern Regional Medical Center


(Riverdale, GA -- February 1, 2016) – Prime Healthcare Foundation and Southern Regional Medical Center announced today that Prime Healthcare has completed its acquisition of Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, GA, as well as Spivey Station, an ambulatory care service center in Jonesboro, GA. The entities will retain their not-for-profit status as members of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, an affiliate of Prime Healthcare.

The purchase of Southern Regional Medical Center includes Prime Healthcare’s commitment to invest $50 million in capital equipment and infrastructure improvements over the next five years.

The Prime Healthcare Foundation, a 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to improving access to healthcare and increasing educational opportunities in healthcare, has donated millions of dollars to support free community clinics, nonprofit organizations, scholarships and academic programs in healthcare.

Prime Healthcare also named Charlotte W. Dupré, who has been leading the transition team, as interim CEO of Southern Regional. Dupré served most recently as CEO of Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS, COO of Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, FL, and numerous other healthcare leadership roles including Women’s Hospital in Baton Rouge and Duke University Medical Center. Dupré earned her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Tulane University. “We’re excited to welcome Charlotte to Prime Healthcare and Southern Regional, because she brings extensive hospital management experience, as well as insight and creativity in operations, planning and marketing,” said Prime Healthcare Division II CEO Jim Summersett.
