Open House for No Baby Unhugged Volunteers

As part of Southern Regional Medical Center’s No Baby Unhugged program, the hospital will be hosting a Volunteer Open House on Tuesday, April 10, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., to interview individuals interested in being part of the program. The Open House will be held in the Women’s Center in the Mother/Baby Classroom.

Southern Regional was one of four hospitals in the nation to receive Huggies No Baby Unhugged grant which supports hospitals, nurses and the newborns in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). Through the program, volunteers are trained to be part of the hospital’s first-ever hugging program that provides the benefits of human touch to babies in the NICU when parents cannot be present.

The Women’s Center is utilizing the $10,000 grant to train volunteers and provide consistent, ongoing, uninterrupted therapy through the hospital’s first hugging program. Funds will also help purchase glider rockers, blankets and other accessories to help provide a comforting environment.

Southern Regional is located at 11 Upper Riverdale Road, SW, Riverdale, GA. The Women’s Center is behind the hospital and is accessed off Medical Way – pass the hospital and make a right on to Medical Way. Parking is available on the right just past the first building. Enter through the Women’s Center main lobby and take the stairs or elevator to the second floor. Anyone who cannot attend the Open House, can contact the Volunteer Office at SRGA-Volunteerinfo@primehealthcare.com.
