Hospital recipient of 2018 NCDR ACTION Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award

Southern Regional Medical Center is one of only 96 hospitals nationwide to receive American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award for 2018. The award recognizes Southern Regional’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients. It also signifies that the hospital has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.

“This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our cardiovascular team and the coordinated efforts of our local emergency personnel in caring for these patients,” stated Charlotte W. Dupré, President and CEO of Southern Regional Medical Center. “We are committed to improving the quality of care for our patients and we could not be more proud of our achievement in ensuring the highest level of care for heart attack patients.”

To receive the ACTION Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award, Southern Regional had to meet the high standards for four consecutive quarters and perform at the top level for specific performance measures. This achievement demonstrates Southern Regional’s commitment to continual improvement in the overall quality of care provided to heart attack patients.

“Southern Regional has always been a pioneer in providing quality cardiac care on the southside, and we continue to meet and exceed these standards of care for the best possible outcomes for our patients,” said Dr. Vikram Mandadi, Cardiologist and Southern Regional Medical Center Chief Medical Officer.

“As a Silver Performance Award recipient, Southern Regional Medical Center has shown it is a leader in implementing standards of care and protocols for its patients,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, Chair, ACTION Registry; Executive Director of Interventional Cardiovascular Programs, Brigham and Women’s Hospital Heart and Vascular Center; and Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School. “By meeting the requirements set forth in the registry and establishing a culture of providing guideline-recommended therapy, Southern Regional is saving lives and improving outcomes of heart attack patients.”

ACTION Registry empowers health care providers to consistently treat heart attack patients according to the most current, science-based guidelines and establishes a national standard for understanding and improving the quality, safety and outcomes for patients with coronary artery disease, specifically high-risk heart attack patients.
