Sleep Diagnostic Center
What's Keeping You up at Night?
Do you snore? Are you having trouble sleeping? Know that you're not
alone in your challenge for a good night's sleep. Sleep disorders
plague millions of people every day. In fact, the CDC (Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention) states that an estimated 50-70 million US adults
have a sleep or wakefulness disorder, with snoring being a major indicator
of obstructive sleep apnea.
Southern Regional's Sleep Diagnostic Center, located in Suite 100,
at the 33 Building on the Southern Regional hospital campus, features
four private bedroom-like settings decorated with a “home feel”
that blends a more personal touch with comprehensive technology.
The center uses state-of-the-art noninvasive equipment that is monitored
by qualified sleep technicians during the patient’s overnight stay.
The patient's heart rate, respiratory system, muscle activity, oxygen
levels, brain activity, sleep movement and body position are monitored
throughout the test. The results of the study provide the sleep physician
with the details to diagnose the patient's condition and work with
their primary physician on determining treatment options.
Southern Regional's Sleep Diagnostic Center is accredited by the American
Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
