Dr. Sambasivan is a board certified, fellowship trained surgeon who provides evaluation and treatment for a wide range of conditions requiring colon and rectal surgery.

Minimally-invasive surgery, also called laparoscopic surgery, uses high-definition imaging technology and precision instruments, which allows surgeons to work through only a few tiny incisions. Minimally-invasive surgery is the standard of care and is Dr. Sambasivan’s preferred surgical approach to treatment.

Compared with traditional “open” surgery, minimally invasive surgery generally offers the following advantages:

  • Smaller scars and/or fewer incisions

  • Quicker recovery and return to normal activities

  • Shorter hospital stay

  • Dramatically reduced bleeding and postoperative pain
