Dr. Titus Duncan, General & Bariatric Surgeon

Dr. Duncan is board certified in general surgery and has extensive training and experience in weight loss surgery, minimally invasive surgery and revision bariatric surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

He holds clinical status at Morehouse School of Medicine as an Associate Professor of Surgery and is Director of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Morehouse. And, He currently serves on the Executive Council of the ASMBS (American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery).

Dr. Duncan has published extensively in the field of minimally invasive, weight loss and general surgery. He is regarded as a pioneer in the field and has taught and lectured extensively around the world about minimally invasive and bariatric surgical techniques. He is Director of a Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Fellowship specializing in training other surgeons to perform these delicate procedures.

  • Dr. Duncan provides minimally-invasive surgical approaches for the treatment of morbid obesity and hernias, in addition to diseases of the foregut, colon, and solid organs.Minimally-invasive surgery, also called laparoscopic surgery, uses high-definition imaging technology and precision instruments, which allows surgeons to work through only a few tiny incisions. Minimally-invasive surgery is a standard of care and is Dr. Johnson’s preferred surgical approach to treatment.

Compared with traditional "open" surgery, minimally-invasive surgery generally offers the following advantages:

  • Smaller scars and/or fewer incisions
  • A quicker recovery and return to normal activities
  • Shorter or no hospital stay, many procedures are done on an outpatient basis
  • Dramatically reduced bleeding and postoperative pain
