Southern Regional Health System created the “Pillars of
Excellence” to measure success of its Service Excellence Initiative (SEI).
Southern Regional employees, staff and our physicians are the foundation
upon which we focus efforts on each of the five “pillars”. Each of the 5
pillars (Quality/Safety, Service, People, Finance and Growth) integrates
strategic goals and objectives that relate to the SEI. Each department
within the Southern Regional organization can measure its contribution
toward achieving goals by placing measurements on each of the pillars.
Achieving continuous performance improvement for each pillar of our Service
Excellence Initiative and then communicating those achievements will insure
that Southern Regional remains the healthcare provider of choice as well as
the employer of choice in the Southern Crescent.
Following are examples of components of each Pillar through which Southern
Regional measures its success:
-
Service: Patient Satisfaction scores, health fairs,
health education and community programs, and charitable donations.
-
People: Employee and Physician Satisfaction results,
SRHS ‘Legends” program, A+ Employer award, education opportunities, special
accomplishments and achievements for outstanding employees.
-
Quality and Safety: Clinical Core Measures such as
measurements for treating pneumonia and congestive heart failure patients,
and numerous safety programs currently in place. Clinical initiatives such
as the implementation of the new Acute Coronary Syndrome pathways, JCAHO
accreditations and specific departmental accreditations also fall under this
pillar.
-
Finance: Goals and objectives such as reduce length
of stay, cost improvement initiatives, investments in building, equipment
and technology, and provision for indigent and charity care.
-
Growth: New technologies, new procedures, Centers of
Emphasis focus.
