Treatment
Treatment
is most effective when you treat the cause of your heart failure. If the cause
it related to coronary artery disease, improving the circulation to the heart
by balloon
angioplasty
or coronary
artery bypass surgery may resolve the problem. Treating heart
valve disease by replacing or repairing the valve may also resolve
heart failure. When
arrhythmia,
anemia,
and thyroid
disease is the cause of the heart failure, it is important to treat the
cause and then determine if additional treatment for heart failure will be
needed.
If surgery is not an option or does not resolve the heart failure, or if
treatment for arrhythmia, anemia, or thyroid problems does not resolve the
heart failure, medical treatment will be recommended. Medical treatment for
heart failure can be very effective in slowing or reversing the progression of
the disease. Management will focus on several areas:
