The actual joint replacement surgical procedure lasts approximately two hours. After surgery, you will stay one to two hours in our recovery room where you will receive one-to-one nursing care. Post-surgical nurses will monitor your vital signs and closely monitor your surgical recovery.
The registered nurses on the Orthopaedic Unit have received extensive specialty education to assure excellent care during your post-operative period. The nurses work as a team with your physicians and therapists.
The nurse will assess your overall condition, the effectiveness of your pain medications and progress of your mobility. They will monitor your lab results and fluid intake and output. They will also consult daily with your physician about your progress.
The nurses will be your advocates and a source of support for you during your stay. They will work with you to help you reach your optimal level of functioning for your return home. |
