William Bryan

Originally injuring his knee in a sandlot baseball game back in 1968, Bryan suffered through years of discomfort and pain and eventually noticed a gradual, yet distinct decline in his overall quality of life.  After watching a close friend struggle through a similar surgery years before, he put off having the surgery feeling that his friend’s recovery was just too much. Pamela Newby

The 48-year-old graphic artist was getting ready to go shopping with her daughter when she was suddenly unable to move her left side. Pamela Newby couldn't speak to call for help, so she banged on the wall with her right hand to get her daughter's attention. "She came in and said, ‘Mama, I think you've had a stroke-I'm calling 911,'" Newby recalls. Read more about Pamela's story.

Nilsa Scott

Guillain-Barre´ Syndrome was an overwhelming and scary diagnosis for Nilsa Scott, the 52-year-old Griffin, Ga. resident. But she was also given some positive news from her doctors. Joanna Vincent
