Life at The Rehabilitation Center
On a patient's first day at The Rehabilitation Center, a customized plan is developed to address specific needs. A typical day includes a minimum of three hours of therapy in designated areas of The Rehabilitation Center. Patients complete therapy sessions in their own clothes and learn to navigate through an on-site "apartment" filled with familiar items patients might find at home.
Family and friends are welcome to visit during a patient's stay as they play an important role in recovery. Please consult the patient and visitor information for visitation guidelines. A patient's length of stay is based on individual progress and criteria set by the insurance company. Often, patient stays range from one to four weeks or more. Throughout a patient's stay at The Rehabilitation Center at Southern Regional, the rehabilitation team meets regularly to discuss a patient's progress.
Going Home
It is important a patient's transition from The Rehabilitation Center to their home go as smoothly as possible. Discharge planning begins prior to the patient's admission and continues throughout the entire stay. Patients are given discharge instructions and may be given individualized educational information to successfully transition home. Family and caregivers are strongly encouraged to participate in patient education and training throughout the patient's stay.
Within a few days of going home, patients are contacted to ensure all plans are being carried out. In addition, patients receive a follow-up call approximately three months after discharge regarding progress with rehabilitation skills such as walking, dressing, communication and social interaction. For questions or concerns after discharge, call 770-897-7300.
