Grief Support Group

Spiritual Care at Southern Regional is Here for You

The Spiritual Care team at Southern Regional is here to support you and your loved ones during your time of loss.

Our Grief Support Group meets on the first Thursday of every month (except July) at 6:30 p.m. It is located in the Peachtree room on the ground floor of Southern Regional Medical Center across from the cafeteria.

It is an intimate gathering of people who are coping with the loss of a loved one, and it is led by our staff chaplain who is qualified as a grief support group leader. Our group welcomes people of all faiths.

We Can Help

The group is an oasis in the desert of emotion that helps people move to the next phase or to the next level where they want to be and need to be to have healthy grief. It also provides a chance to share and talk about your loved one and honor their memory, which can help with the grief process.

The group has been meeting for the past six years. Participants span a wide range of ages, and sometimes multiple generations in a family or siblings attend together.

We want to reach out to as many people as possible. Whenever a patient dies, we send a letter to their family to invite them to the group. We also provide information to the community faith leaders, so they can tell people who may need support.

For more information, just call (770) 991-8399. Also, if you're planning to come to the next meeting, please call and let us know so we have enough tissues and bottled water to share.
