Volunteer Chaplains' Association at Southern Regional

Southern Regional Medical Center Volunteer Chaplains' Association is a group of local clergy who volunteer one day a month to visit our newly-admitted patients and their families.

These volunteers, who are ministers and other faith leaders, play an important role at the hospital by helping to meet the spiritual needs of Southern Regional patients.

Volunteer chaplains always respect a patient's religious views. The chaplains do not attempt to impose their beliefs, but rather provide support and ecumenical ministering to the needs of patients and their families.

Becoming a Volunteer Chaplain

Clergy who are interested in volunteering must submit a membership application, as well as references.

The Association meets monthly at Southern Regional. There is also an educational program held in both April and November for the volunteer chaplains and other local community clergy. A certificate of Continuing Education Hours will be issued to those attending.

In addition, Southern Regional hosts an Appreciation Banquet each January for the volunteer chaplains.
