Ultrasound is the use of sound waves to create a picture of the area being examined. This is a complete examination of the fetus, it's position and anatomy. This exam also looks at the position of the placenta (after birth) and the amount of fluid surrounding the fetus. Due to the technical considerations involved, we ask that family members not be present in the room during the exam. They will be allowed in the exam room once the technical portion of the exam is complete.
