Thallium is a clear liquid that is used to film the movements of the heart. After receiving the Thallium, you will then lie on a narrow table and undergo the first scan of your heart. There will be a second scan done about 2 - 4 hours later. You will have to return to the department at that time. While waiting you can leave the hospital or get something to eat. The first part of the test takes about 1 hour and the second part takes about 20 minutes. Other than the IV needle, you will feel no pain. You will be asked to sign a consent form before the test is performed.
