Eugene Harris, III, MD, Announced as New Medical Director of Southern Regional
Medical Center Emergency Services
Role is part of new partnership with Legacy Physician Partners
Southern Regional Medical Center has entered into a new partnership with
Legacy Physician Partners for the hospital’s Emergency Services
Unit. This new physician endeavor will be led by Eugene Harris, III, MD,
who has been named as the Medical Director of Southern Regional’s
Emergency Services.
“Southern Regional is pleased to join forces with Legacy Physician
Partners under the direction of Dr. Harris and will work in partnership
as we continue our drive for service excellence,” stated Charlotte
Dupré, President and CEO of Southern Regional Medical Center. “We’re
looking forward to implementing new initiatives as we work collaboratively
to meet and exceed the everyday challenges in the Emergency Department.”
Dr. Harris earned his Medical Doctorate from Emory University School of
Medicine and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Detroit Medical
Center. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and is an American
Board of Emergency Medicine Diplomat. Since 2007, he has honed his expertise
as an emergency medicine physician working in various Emergency Departments
in Georgia. In addition, he has achieved more than 10 years of administrative
leadership experience in emergency services.

Southern Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department sees, on
average, 60,000 unique visits per year and is known to the residents of
Riverdale and southern Atlanta for high-quality, compassionate care. The
331-bed hospital continues to undergo extensive renovations and add service
lines to meet the needs of the community it serves.
