Southern Regional Medical Center has earned Georgia Hospital Association’s HRET (Health Research and Education Trust Hospital) Improvement and Innovation Network designation of a Milestone 8 Hospital. Earning this designation is a reflection of the commitment and work by everyone at Southern Regional to keep patients and workers safe from harm and infection.

“Southern Regional has always been committed to providing our patients high-quality healthcare in a safe environment,” stated Vikram Mandadi, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Southern Regional Medical Center. “We are proud of our entire team – physicians, clinicians, nurses, and staff – who have worked diligently to achieve this success.”

Charlotte W. Dupré, Southern Regional’s President and CEO, added “The Milestone 8 Hospital designation validates our hospital’s dedication and efforts to the reduction of hospital-acquired conditions. We are committed to ensuring that every patient and every employee at Southern Regional is safe from harm and infection.”

According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), nationwide approximately 125,000 fewer patients have died in hospitals and an estimated $28 billion in health care costs have been saved nationwide because of reductions in hospital-acquired conditions.
