RQI Partners and the American Heart Association honored Southern Regional
Medical Center with their Gold Standard Award for the hospital’s
commitment to quality by implementing RQI (resuscitation quality improvement)
as their standard educational model. The hospital achieved this recognition
based on their consistent number of educational component completion rates
on a quarterly basis.
“We are incredibly proud of our education team, clinical leaders
and our clinical staff, for this recognition on excellence. As an accredited
Chest Pain Center, it is imperative that our clinical staff meet and exceed
competency trainings for heart care. This award acknowledges their commitment
to continually providing the highest level of care for our community,”
stated Charlotte W. Dupré, Southern Regional’s President and CEO.
Julie Frain, Impact Manager, RQI Partners, American Heart Association &
Laerdal, presented the award stating, “We want to thank Southern
Regional’s leadership and every staff member for making Riverdale,
Georgia a safer place to live, work and play.” Adding, “Your
partnership, under the guidance of Sharon Lawson-Mathis (Prime Healthcare,
Division II, Regional Director of Education) ensured the success of this
educational endeavor.”
Southern Regional implemented the American Heart Association Resuscitation
Quality Improvement (RQI) Program – which is a mobile system –
for employees to maintain certification in BLS and ACLS (Basic Life Support
and Advanced Cardiac Life Support). In the RQI Program, hospital employees
take part in quarterly training to support mastery of high-quality CPR
skills. The training is conducted using mobile carts with an RQI manikin
that provides interactive feedback to coach the user to compress the chest
at the optimal rate and depth to improve the victim's chance of survival.
