Southern Regional Announces New Chief Nursing Officer


Alene Lewis, MSN, MHA, BSN, RN, has taken the nursing lead at Southern Regional as the Chief Nursing Officer. She steps into this position with more than 35 years of hospital operations and nursing management experience in both large and medium-sized medical facilities.

“With her level of experience and commitment to high quality care, Alene will be an exceptional guiding force for our clinical staff,’ states Charlotte W. Dupré, President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Regional Medical Center. “Southern Regional is happy to add a strong leader to our team who is focused on delivering patient-centered care derived from evidence-based practices.”

Alene has held previous CNO positions at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV; Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, NV; Albuquerque Regional Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM and Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, NM. Originally from Georgia, she began her nursing career at Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta where she was as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Staff Nurse and Manager.

Alene holds two master’s degrees – Nursing Informatics (American Sentinel University) and Health Administration (Georgia State University). She holds a BS in Nursing (Nevada State College) and a BA in Business Administration (University of Georgia). Alene received a diploma in Nursing from Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing.
