On Tuesday, April 16, at 1:00 p.m., LifeLink of Georgia will recognize
Southern Regional Medical Center with the Workplace Partnership for Life
Platinum Award for the hospital’s commitment to saving lives through
donation. Workplace Partnership for Life awards are presented at the bronze,
silver, gold, and platinum levels.
“We are honored and humbled to be a recipient of the highest-level
award in LifeLink of Georgia’s
HRSA Hospital Workplace Partnership For Life program.” states Alene Lewis, Southern Regional’s Chief Nursing
Officer. “Southern Regional supports the critical need that our
participation in the HRSA program brings to our community and beyond and
will continue to support LifeLink of Georgia’s efforts to save lives.”
Hospitals who have joined this life-saving initiative have assisted in
collecting 443,427 donor registrations since 2011. During the campaign,
more than 1,200 hospitals worked with donation organizations, like LifeLink
of Georgia, to promote organ, eye, and tissue donation in their hospitals
and communities and received recognition from Hospital Donation Campaign
Recognition Program Division of Transplantation.
One person can donate up to 8 lifesaving organs. Generating awareness of
the need for registered organ donors is important but giving people the
opportunity to register as donors is essential. Through registration,
people gain the potential to save lives as donors.
LifeLink of Georgia is an independent, non-profit organ and tissue recovery
organization dedicated to serving patients in need of transplant therapy
and their families. This organization is one of five divisions of LifeLink
Foundation, located in Tampa, Florida.
