Struggling with being overweight and want to take steps to improve your
health and quality of life? Consider attending a FREE Weight Loss Seminar
offered by Southern Regional’s Center for Bariatrics and Healthy
Weight. The seminar will be held Saturday, August 17, in the hospital’s
Education Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The session will be followed
by a Weight Loss Support Group Meeting.
This informational session will be led by Karleena Tuggle, MD, Bariatric
Surgeon, who will provide insight into weight loss surgery options and
the benefits and risks of each of the procedures offered at Southern Regional.
In addition to being informative, the seminar is a required first step
to qualify for the weight loss program.
Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Tuggle is the Medical
Director of Bariatric Surgery for Southern Regional Medical Center and
provides surgical and medical assessment for weight loss treatment in
her practice. She received her medical degree and completed her General
Surgery Residency and Internship from Howard University College of Medicine
in Washington, DC. She completed her Fellowship in Minimally Invasive
and Bariatric Surgery under Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.
In addition, Dr. Tuggle is an active Officer in the US Army Reserve and
is a veteran of military war missions in Afghanistan and Kuwait.
Southern Regional Medical Center is located at 11 Upper Riverdale Road,
SW, Riverdale. Attendees should park in front of the hospital’s
Education Center doors (facing the hospital it will be the 3rd set of
doors to the left). Upon entering on First Floor, take steps or elevator
down one level to Ground Floor level to the Meeting Room. Parking is free.
