Southern Regional announces that it will host its annual Dietetic Internship
Open House on Friday, January 17, at 2 p.m. in the Food and Nutrition
Offices. The hospital’s Dietetic Internship Program offers students
striving to become Registered Dietitians the opportunity to reach their
mandated clinical rotations.
The program runs approximately 9 1/2 months – from August 2020 to
completion in late May to early June 2021. Students enrolled in the program
are expected to work 36 hours per week. Mondays are spent in classes with
interns from Emory University Hospital and Georgia State University, with
Tuesday through Friday dedicated to hands-on rotation experiences.
To qualify for graduation from the program, interns are required to complete
all the weeks of the program, successfully achieve all Accreditation Council
for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®) competencies, pass
all rotations and complete all assignments. Upon completion of the program,
students will be eligible to take the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
registration exam for dietitians and begin working in entry-level dietetics
positions.
Students who are interested in attending the Dietetic Internship Open House
must RSVP to: Lamura Poore, MS, RDN, LD, at
