A Healthier You Education Program Focuses on Preventing Type 2 Diabetes


A Healthier You, a free diabetes education program series, will kickoff on Wednesday, February 27 with a session entitled “Preventing Type 2 Diabetes in Adults and Children.” Two sessions are being offered – one from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and one from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All sessions will be led by Southern Regional Medical Center’s Dietetic Interns.

Attendees will learn steps they can take to reduce their risk of Type 2 Diabetes. Insight will be offered on diet, healthy eating habits and physical activity. In addition, attendees will walk away with healthy recipe ideas for the entire family.

This is the first session in the Healthier You series. All sessions will highlight a diabetes topic and focus on how to live a healthy lifestyle with the disease. The series is free and open to the public; children are welcomed. Light refreshments will be served.

All sessions will be held in the Georgia Room in the hospital’s Magnolia Café. Southern Regional is located in the hospital on 11 Upper Riverdale Road, Riverdale. Free parking is available. Attendees should park at the hospital’s main entrance. The Georgia Room is on the Ground Floor, which is accessible from the main elevators.
