Southern Regional Medical Center has installed new GI Scopes – the
Olympus EVIS EXERA III video endoscopy system – in its GI/Endoscopy
Lab offering patients access to the latest, state-of-the-art equipment
on the market today. This endoscopy system enables physicians to better
diagnose, detect and treat gastrointestinal (GI) diseases and other conditions
such as colorectal cancer at earlier stages when treatments are most successful.
By acquiring this new endoscopy system, Southern Regional is able to further
its commitment to providing premier care for its patients.
Early detection can improve treatment outcomes, reduce overall healthcare
costs and improve the quality of life for patients. To aid in early detection,
the American Cancer Society recommends that beginning at age 45, both
men and women at average risk for developing colorectal cancer should
be screened for CRC and polyps. Those with personal or family risk factors
should be tested even earlier.
In addition to helping Southern Regional physicians detect and diagnosis
diseases at an earlier stage, the new 190 series colonoscope technology
enhancements allow better control by the physician and help to improve
comfort for the patient. Through acquisitions of the latest technologies,
Southern Regional continues its commitment to providing high-quality care
to the communities they serve.
