Dietetic Internship at Southern Regional
The Southern Regional Medical Center (SRMC) dietetic internship program prepares students academically and professionally to become registered dietitian nutritionists (RDN). Students will gain valuable experience while learning to provide quality nutritional care in cost-effective and innovative ways.
Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Exam for dietitians and begin working in entry-level dietetics positions. Tuition includes didactic and practical experience, office and presentation supplies, Internet access, and the availability of a variety of nutrition and dietetics resources.
Southern Regional Medical Center is a 331-bed full-service hospital located in Riverdale, GA. The hospital serves residents throughout the region south of Atlanta and has been recognized on the state and national level for the quality of care provided. It has state-of-the-art facilities where students will gain broad exposure to healthcare. Southern Regional is a hospital with a strong sense of community where physicians are very engaged in dietetics and enjoy teaching young professionals
Program Accreditation
Southern Regional's Dietetic Internship Program is currently granted full accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®). The program is approved for 12 full-time students and provides a medical nutrition therapy concentration. Since the beginning of the internship (1996), graduates have achieved an 80% or greater passage rate on the Commission on Dietetic Registration Exam (CDR). Program outcomes data are available upon request to prospective students and the public.
