Southern Regional holds emergency preparedness drill with support of local emergency responders

first responders walking down ER hallOn Wednesday, August 14, Southern Regional Medical Center held an Emergency Drill as a learning exercise for hospital employees and county response teams. The event was carried out in cooperation with Clayton County Board of Health; Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services; Clayton County Office of Emergency Management; Clayton County Police Department; Clayton County Schools Police; Forest Park Police Department; and Forest Park Fire & EMS; along with support from Region D Regional Coordinating Hospital Systems.

The full-scale exercise was the culmination of planning meetings and previous exercises, and was developed to test policies, procedures, incident command responses and system-wide communications. Drill Controller’s and Emergency Management leadership observed the events unfold to provide insight into areas of opportunity for improvement.

“We are truly grateful to our local emergency responders who have worked with us over

the past several months to execute an appropriate drill to ensure that we are appropriately prepared,” stated Charlotte W. Dupré, President and CEO of Southern Regional Medical Center.
