Janie Hinton, RN, Announced as New Chief Nursing Officer

Southern Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Janie Hinton, BSN, RN, has taken over the reins as the hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer. A long-time valued member of the Southern Regional team, Janie brings 37 years of nursing and leadership expertise to the position and will provide oversight for all clinical departments.

“Janie Hinton is the personification of that high-quality, compassionate nurse every hospital leader desires to lead their clinical team,” states Charlotte W. Dupré, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Her clinical expertise and her dedication to our patients, our staff, and this community is the combination essential to fulfill our mission of providing patient-centered care. I have been privileged to work side-by-side with Janie over the past six years and am confident that we have a strong, supportive leader who will assure our clinical teams deliver quality, compassion care with dignity and respect for every patient and their family.”

Janie has spent her career at Southern Regional stating, “I have stayed at Southern Regional because I’m committed to our patients, our physicians, and our staff. We have incredible people here.” She was named the Director of Nursing when the hospital became part of the Prime Healthcare system in 2016. Prior to that she was the Director of Telemetry and Interim Director over the Medical Surgical Unit and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Janie spent several years as the hospital’s Administrative Supervisor, as well as a dedicated RN in ICU. Her distinguished career at the hospital all began in Laboratory Services as a Phlebotomist.

Janie will earn her MSN in Health Administration degree from West Governor University in the fall of 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Columbus State University and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Gordon State.
