Leading-edge Surgery

A leader in surgical advances, Southern Regional was the area’s first hospital to perform a da Vinci robot-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy.

The da Vinci® Surgical System, which is powered by state-of-the-art robotic technology, makes it possible to perform complex surgery using a minimally-invasive approach that requires only small incisions.

Here’s how it works. The da Vinci robot is part of the da Vinci® Surgical System which allows surgeons to operate while viewing a 3-D image of the surgical field. The surgeon’s fingers grasp master controls that seamlessly translate the surgeon’s movements and allow surgical tools to be guided into the patient through small incisions.

With da Vinci, surgeons need to make only a few, very small incisions. This makes recovery faster and easier for patients.

Southern Regional also offers other minimally-invasive and non-invasive options for other gynecological needs. Learn about treating fibroids with fibroid embolizations.
