The Emergency Department personnel works closely with all service areas of the hospital, including the lab, radiology, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, in patient units and other ancillary departments to provide top quality emergency care. In addition, Southern Regional’s ED works closely with Atlanta area Emergency Response Units, Police Departments, and Fire Departments to ensure protocols and standards are met.

About Our ER Wait Time

ER wait time is the average wait time for a patient to see a registered nurse during the triage (evaluation) process in our ER. After patients are triaged (evaluated), they are seen by qualified medical professionals in priority order, according to their medical condition and reason for visit. Times are approximate and provided for information purposes only.

The department’s dedicated physicians are board-certified and have been trained in some of the busiest and best programs in the country, including those in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New Orleans. The department has an exceptional staff of nurses, technicians, unit secretaries, and patient representatives. Our nurses are trained in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and many have other certifications, such as TNCC (Trauma Nurse Care Courses), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and NALS (Neonatal Advanced Life Support).

Since Southern Regional is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and certified as a Primary Stroke Center, our heart and vascular team as well as stroke team are always available to treat life-threatening illnesses.
